National Security Threats: Alaba International Market Calls Electrical Dealers To Be Vigilant

Given the inability of Nigeria’s security agencies to contain the menace of terrorism in the North, which may be threatening the peace of other States and communities in Nigeria, traders in Alaba International Market, Ojo, today held a security awareness and disaster prevention conference.

The Electrical Dealers Association of Nigeria [EDAN] organized a lecture to keep its members in the heavily-congested hub of electrical and electronics components in Lagos on alert in view of the fact that some of the security attacks have been achieved through the use of devices with electronic/electrical components.

Chairman of the EDAN, Engineer Paul Chijioke Okenwa in his address, advised dealers in electrical items to consider themselves as their own security, noting various leaders in the country have made efforts but failed to make peace prevail.

“The quest for peace has been illusive and a mirage,” he said.

Okenwa stated that the activities of the dreaded Islamic sect in the nation has affected the confidence of communities and has necessitated everyone to be on watch, regardless of whether the crisis has reached a particular vicinity or not.

“The activities of Boko Haram, kidnappers, communal clashes, cultism, religious bigotry, armed robbery, etc have eroded peace in this nation that people are suspicious of their next door neighbor,” said Okenwa.

ASP Olajide Mutairu of the Ojo Police Station, who represented the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umaru Manko, re-assured the market of cooperative security efforts for the electrical/electronic hub.

Alaba International Market is said to be the largest electronics market in Africa where all major international brands of electronics and allied products are offered for sale. The market occupies a location that is approximately 2km by 1km in Ojo.

'No shaking, the parasitic mad malos will not dare. Every other thing they say or do na shakara. They need nigeria, they and their terror financers know that very much and too well or how does one explain their automatic and instant proclamation of "one nigeria" every time division or SNC is mentioned.'
______________

sultanofsokoto, you are 101% right. Guess who will be the president in new northern hausafulani country? Whom ever is the head of boko haram as we speak. Thus, the hausafulanis elites know that they are dead meat and are scared. Their only cover, safe heaven is the "poisoned" one nigeria, where ALL of us will ALL die together. Boko haram will kill them off in the new northern nigeria country.

Trade Union President has nothing to do with Traders or Entrepre

Lol!, guy, Trade union is not Traders association naa,

Good one, Alaba Marketers.

Good one, Alaba Marketers. Spread word and Spread the spirit. we all must contribute whatever we can to defeat this terrorists

EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF

JUST ANOTHER WAY OF SAYING THAT THERE IS NO GOVERNMENT IN NIGERIA. I NEVER BELIEVE A SOUTHERNER WITH A PHD CAN BE THIS CLUELESS. I WAS WRONG, ITS SEEMS SOME MEN ARE NOT BORN TO RULE! THIS WILL NEVER HAVE HAPPEN UNDER A NORTHERNER-GOD FORBID. YET SOUTHERNERS THINK TO LEAD IS A SIMPLE MATTER. YES THERE ARE THOSE BORN TO RULE, ITS IN THE BLOOD! BABOONS CANNOT READ AND WRITE, DONKEYS CANNOT DRIVE SO ALSO SOME MEN JUST CANT LEAD OR INSPIRE OTHERS. IF THEY TRY WE WILL ALL END UP IN A DITCH LIKE THE ONE WE ARE IN NOW.

What Else.

Where there is no other option what else do we expect them to do? Hoping on Nigerian gov't or security agencies alone is like throwing one's salt to the open and asking the rain what can it do? self-defence is the most appropriate strategy now.

Nice step in the Right Direction

This is a welcome development that Igbo traders have stood up to accept that they have stakes in the building process of the nation. It's disheartening that we have learned, exposed and rich Igbo traders and they will sit by the sides and watch things go wrong in the nation. How can that stupid small warri boy that doesn't know anything about buying and selling that calls himself Esele come out and say he is president of Trade Unions in Nigeria. Please, I want to plead with EDAN to make sure that they nationalize this association throughout the whole 36states and FCT. God bless EDAN, God bless Igbo traders!!!!!!

in Aburi we stand

no misrepresentations

If boko haram tries throwing bomb in alaba market, it will only take to stop ibos killing any northerner in south east, subsequently, the traders themselves should be very vigilante to ensure that a disgruntled trader does not commit same act and boko haram blamed, because in some cases markets going aflame has been traced to traders of same market. Also Yorubas who would want friction between north and south east again do not commit same act. There has to be positive vigilance
